Trying to figure out if this 2018 Santa Fe Sport I'm looking at can handle a small utility trailer or if I'm limited to just a bike rack. The seller doesn't have the original window sticker and the door jam codes aren't telling me much. I know the 2.4L without the tow package is rated at 3,500 lbs with trailer brakes, but it drops to 1,650 lbs without them . The towing capacity also varies by trim, with the XRT getting 4,500 lbs and the SEL/Limited getting 3,500 lbs . Is there a way to tell if this specific Santa Fe has the trailer pre-wire connection or the towing package without the dealer? I know the 2018 models had option groups like the 2.4L Value Package and Premium Equipment Package that added towing features . Just trying to figure out if I can use this thing to haul a small trailer or if I need to keep looking.

Getting the towing specs on the 2018 Santa Fe Sport is a bit of a maze since the numbers shift depending on trim and engine. The 3,500 lb rating applies to the 2.4L with the tow package and trailer brakes, but without brakes it drops to 1,650 lbs. The 2.0T and XRT trims can handle up to 4,500 lbs. Door jamb codes won't tell you this, so the best way to confirm is to check https://hyundaiwindowsticker.com with the VIN to pull the original build sheet. Does it have the 2.4L or 2.0T engine?
